Tips & Tricks

Sooner or later someone is going to try and walk out onto your rink when they really shouldn't have.  The result will be a mess that may seem impossible to recover from.  Someone did that to me and I got lucky and things warmed up before the rink froze again and things worked themselves out.  If you are not so lucky, here is what you can do to speed up the repair.

Clean out the area as best as you can, leaving any large chunks of ice in place.  Get some ice cubes from your freezer and fill in the gaps around the larger chunks and let Mother Nature do her thing.  The result will be a faster repair than say just leaving the gaps and hoping things freeze back together.  You may have some high spots to deal with due to the ice cubes or chunks floating above the water level, but you can fix them with your trusty scraper.
